Where there is glitter...
Hello girlies. How is your weekend so far?
Today Jo and I attended a birthday party -- we left daddy and baby home to spend alone-time together -- and my daughter had a great time playing with friends.
There were many kids there, but I noticed that while the boys played with trains in one room, the girls danced in another room donning feathers, boa, and all kinds of shiny things.
Where there is locomotive, there are boys; and where there is glitter, there are (girlie) girls.
That's just how the world rolls.
Weekend Recommend - Glitter Head to Toe
1. Dresses That Dazzle
Speaking of girls in glitter, tonight is prom for many of Seattle's high schools. While stopping at a neighborhood view point, our family ran into a group of high school kids en route to prom.
(The view point, which captures Downtown Seattle's beautiful skyline, makes a stunning backdrop for pictures.)
All the girls looked lovely in their formals, but one of them completely stood out.
Her easygoing, one-shouldered dress draped comfortably from head to toe, but stilled looked extravagant with its all-over glitter.
To my surprise, the high school girl was extremely courteous, and let me post her picture below.
Thank you, high school kid I don't know!
2. Shiny Jewelry
Handling a baby all day makes it hard for me to wear jewelry. Odd-shaped metals might scratch the little one. But if I have an opportunity to dress up, I'll try to glitter with accessories.
The cushion cut halo engagement rings and diamond bangle bracelets are perfect examples of how I'd adorn myself.
3. Jeweled Sandals
Jeweled sandals are very "in" right now, and I can see why -- they are jazzy and comfy. They dress up a "down" outfit almost instantly.
I like the Steve Madden's below because they have duller jewels, and a boho vibe. You can find them here.
The flip flops below are by a new brand called Cowgirls. I like them because the crystals are subtly-places on top of zebra prints.
The sandals are sold through Amazon here.
Last but not least, these Frye T-Straps are plain awesome. Love the soft coral color, the blush-toned jewels, the wooden heels, and the vintage feel.
You can also find them at Amazon by clicking here.
loving this post! that dress is super gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little I did not like a lot of girly things, I think all I really like was dress barbies and make them outfits with small pieces of fabric that my mom had, with glitters and sequins of course ... =)
ReplyDeleteLovely post, and such a gorgeous dress. I starting to wearing sandal more since the weather getting warmer here, and love to shop for it. Thank you so much for your sweet words about us in your last post.
