Nooooooooo! Don't leave Seattle!
I commiserated with a girl friend today about potentially leaving Seattle. (News with husband's job. Won't discuss here.) The thought of moving away disheartens me.
I wasn't born a Seattleite, but have grown to love the city still. To me, Seattle is home.
Can you imagine ever leaving home?
Sun break = outfit pics. (And hurry the F#@K up.) |
Reasons Why I Love Seattle
1. Yes, it rains in Seattle.
But that's okay.
When it rains in Seattle, temperature is warm. The rain is never a downpour, it's a light drizzle. It actually feels pretty good.
When it rains in Seattle, I make a cup of coffee, and curl up on the couch with a book. Sometimes, I hit up a hole-in-the-wall that serves pho, or go for a run.
Yes, a run. It also feels pretty good running in rain.
2. Geeks, nerds, outcasts welcome.
In fact, everyone is welcome.
I wasn't popular in high school. (Now that I think of it, I'm still unpopular.) I was an outcast -- not unique enough to be a geek(ette), and not smart enough to be a nerd.
But hey, all good. Seattle is an accepting place. Even loners and outcasts (like myself) find comfort here.
Quit clenching the jacket. Don't look too uptight. |
3. Low crime rate, comparatively.
Now I wouldn't wander around Belltown alone at night. But compared to other cities in the U.S, Seattle is relatively safe.
4. Leave your car at home.
Seattle's neighborhoods are closely knit, and connected by trails and bus routes. You can walk, bike or bus anywhere within city limits. You get along fine without a car.
Turn to the side, please. You'll look slimmer. |
Also, rest hand on hip and hunch a little - you'll look approachable to women. |
5. Okay to breastfeed bare-it-all style.
I couldn't be prouder!
The tiny infant I held five months ago is now a full-blown baby, weighing over 15 pounds.
All breast milk, y'all! She took the bottle three whopping times.
Sometimes, out in public, when I'm wrestling the toddler and feeding the baby at the same time, my boob kind of pops out of the cover.
Nobody cares.
Breastfeeding is hugely promoted in Seattle, even if you have to LET IT ALL HANG OUT.
Caught in action. I was either telling our dog or our toddler to zip it :O) |
6. A light jacket will do. (See fashion blog post pictures.)
Well, most of the time. There are cold and snowy days here and there. But for the most part, Seattle has mild climate. All you need is a light jacket.
7. It takes your breath away.
When was the last time you saw water, hills, mountains, and a city all in one place?
Seattle has breath-taking beauty. I can't describe it. You'll have to see it for yourself.
8. Housing prices - up, up and up.
Only in Seattle have I seen -- not hearsay but seen -- properties being sold before an open house.
Awesome.

You nailed it! Seattle is such an awesome town- my favorite reason: outcasts welcome. Oh, and the summers are like heaven.
ReplyDeleteGreat post ! I hope I can come and visit one day, Seattle sounds an amazing place. I am in Italy as you know, and in my mind Seattle is where Grunge was born...right ? And I bet there's so many things more to add, LOL. I understand your fear of changing town. I have moved 3 times in my life and the town I live in now isn't my hometown, yet I got used to being here and would miss it. Whatever you end up for doing, I wish you the best ! You look lovely in that outfit, by the way !
