Leopard is sexy.
I
For slightly older women like myself, it's better to wear a little bit of leopard at a time. Being in your 30's and looking trashy make a bad combo.
My personal preference is to wear leopard printed accessories, like the scarf in this fashion blog post. Accessories make befitting ways to add leopard to an outfit.
(It's new, by the way. Found it for $7 at Ross.)
Slouchy and relaxed - leopard goes casual. |
These jeans are also from Ross. They cost a whopping $13. |
What goes with leopard print?
After evaluating some options, I decided that simple blues -- blue top over blue skinnies -- make a nice background to lay the leopard scarf on.
Also, if you pay attention to the boots...
They have two visible stripes of snake skin on the back.
It takes a courageous soul to mix animal prints. But as long as you do it demurely, you can succeed.
Check out the snake skin on the back of these boots! Wild, right? |
If you take pictures indoors, standing next to windows provides best lighting. |
But of course, nothing beats sun shine. |
Here are other suggestions on what goes with leopard print:
1. Vibrant colors.
Anything from pink to neon orange go well with leopard. Leopard has earthy colors that match brights.
2. Distressed jeans.
Because leopard looks quite opulent, wearing it with "broken" jeans creates a subtle balance.
3. Floral.
That's right. Leopard and floral. One is tender and one is sexy. The two of them match (almost) accidentally.
4. Muted solids.
Keep it simple with basic colors like black, brown, ivory, camel, and gray.
5. Bird prints.
Right now, bird prints are huge. Wearing it with leopard adds an extra flavor of wild-on-wild.
Oh yes I totally agree just a touch can look great. I like it with the jeans and the floral - kinda a bit John Caville :)

great outfit:) I like all the suggestions, some I have tried, other not yet( for example) leopard and floral.
ReplyDeleteLove your boots <3 Although I'm not much into animal prints but it looks great on you!!
ReplyDeleteI like leopard with neutral tones, like denim, khaki or beige. Mixing textures makes it interesting too. Accessories are definitely my favourite way to wear leopard - scarves and shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteI like leopard with black, red, cobalt blue and dark denim. I have a leopard scarf that I adore and wear with my mustard winter coat.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought that leopard would go so well with blue or florals before. I can't wait to try!
ReplyDeleteI love the leopard scarf! I think leopard is great in small doses. Love this!

You can wear leopard with almost anything and you're not old. Lol. I'm probably much older than you. I love how you're adding more fashion posts.

great tips!! i definitely agree with you, i cringe whenever i see a mid-age woman wearing a full-on leopard print outfit, it looks so tacky MOST OF THE TIME, not always. wearing leopard can be tricky, it can either go good or bad, no middle. although some girls look amazing wearing alot of leopard print, i guess it really depends on how you wear them :)
