What is Boho Chic?
Boho chic, or boho-chic, is a fashion trend influenced by hippie and bohemian style of the 60's and 70's.
There are many versions of how to dress boho chic. But to sum it up, boho chic mixes modern trends with vintage pieces, and is usually worn as comfy street wear.
The top has a dull type of green color - perfect for a boho look. |
Boho Chic Stars
Boho chic wasn't popular until Hollywood revived it in the last few years.
Celebrities like Sienna Miller, the Olson twins and Mischa Barton popularized the boho chic trend when they wore it as everyday street wear.
It also helped when celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe advertised boho chic on her TV show, The Rachel Zoe Project.
My favorite boho chic star, though, is Nicole Richie. She is always effortlessly stylish.

How to dress Boho Chic
1. Don a boho do.
Leave your hair down. Leave it unwashed, a bit messy, and mildly undone.
Boho chic is all about going easy and simple.
2. Wear earthy colors
Pass on pastels, neons or anything loud. Just earthy tones like browns, neutrals and greens.
Basically, the subtler, the better.
Very much in love with the maxi skirt. It's so comfortable. |
3. Dress a bit baggy
Another interpretation: relaxed but not sloppy.
Don't wear anything tight, but also don't wear things that are so baggy, you might as well walk around in a trash bag.
My rule? One size up, but no more than that.
4. Add slouchy accessories
Big, roomy bags please! And add fringes for extra flare.
This fringe-filled bag may be the best I've ever had. |
5. Wear the right shoes
Sandals, flats, boots or cowboy boots are all great choices. Lately, I've been loving mocassin flats.
New in: mocassin flats. |
6. When in doubt...
Copy the stars. (Especially the ones I listed above.)
They are celebrities, and do no wrong. (Joking. Kind of.)
Boots are great, aren't they? They go with anything. |
