Burberry Lipstick Honey Suckle

Quickie review -- because I already wrote an in-depth review on the same Burberry lipstick in a diffrent color (see link below):

Fall's Sexiest Lips - Burberry Lipstick in "Ruby" - A Review

Recap:

Overall Likes

  • Excellent formula. It glided on smoothly, did not dry lips, and lasted a long time.
  • Ruby is a beautiful, rich color, and looks fantastic for a night out. (Or holiday party perhaps?)
  • Gorgeous packaging. All over luxurious, quilted design.

Overall Dislikes

  •  Just a little more effort to take off, but it's totally understandable.

Rating

10/10

Price: $30 at Nordstrom.

Burberry Lipstick in Honey Suckle

  • Of course, the lipstick has wonderful quality, was easy to apply, and did not dry lips.
  • Honey suckle is a fun -- and unusual -- color for me. I don't wear bright colors on my lips, and was skeptical when I first put it on. But the orange-y tone looked subtle, and the overall color matched my Asian, yellow-toned skin perfectly.
  • Honestly, I was happily surprised by honey suckle's pretty shade, and found it fun to wear for both day and night.

Again, another BRILLIANT lipstick by Burberry Cosmetics.

Honey suckle surprised me, but in a fantastic way.

I really enjoyed wearing this bright and fun color.

How about you? Any bright colors you are into right now?

Useful Software for Beginner Bloggers - Blogging Tips Weekly

Though I've had Girlie Blog Seattle for over five years, I still consider myself a beginner. There's just so much to learn about the business and craft of blogging. Compared to accomplished bloggers like SEOMoz and Problogger, who have both experience and resources, I'm like dust on their shoulders :O(

However, even at beginner level, I have found useful software -- most of them free -- to improve my blog. Here are a few that I recommend for beginning bloggers:

1. Photoshop Element

My computer came with Photoshop Element 9, and it has proven extremely helpful when I try to fix lighting, shadows, contrast and such in my pictures.

I own a cheap camera (in process of upgrading, yay) that doesn't take the best pictures, and live in Seattle, where sunlight is hard to come by. So my pictures come out dark and blurry at times. Photoshop has helped improve picture quality.

Also, I have created simple header images with Photoshop. I like that Photoshop has layers and offers artistic effects.

This header was a simple design from Photoshop.

2. Paint

I use paint mostly to add words within a picture to explain details. (You can do this in Photoshop too, but I prefer Paint.)

Paint does a good job explaining things.

3. Jing

I use Jing to capture screen images and record screen actions (for YouTube).

4. Microsoft Movie Maker

I use Windows Movie Maker to make youtube videos to promote my blogs. I know Apple has its own version of movie maker (forgot the name), but I've used it and it's similar to the Microsoft version.

Of course, you can explore other multimedia software. CyberLink is a good place to look. It offers video and audio technologies that can burn dvd, edit videos, and satisfy various multimedia needs.

5. Windows Live Photo Library

I only use the "exposure" feature from Windows Live Photo Library to help correct lighting in my photos. It's been really useful.

Hope you picked up good tools from this post.

Anything you want to add? I'd appreciate the knowledge.

Skin Care Blog Post - Boscia Restorative Night Treatment Review

Everyone's skin needs moisture, but a thirty-something-year old woman like me needs intense moisture. After adding night cream to my skin ritual last year, I have been searching for an adequate night treatment.

Thanks Charleston Naturally!

Thanks to a representative from Charleston Naturally, I received a bottle of Boscia Restorative Night Treatment to review. I have heard that Boscia offers great makeup and skincare, but never tried it out myself. When I received this night treatment, I was thrilled.

Price: $48

Quality and Performance

  • Formula is thin, but certainly moisturizing.
  • Formula felt wet, and saturated skin rapidly
  • However, formula dried in mere seconds, absorbing quickly into skin.
  • Skin's surface felt protected with sealed-in moisture.
  • Product is supposed to be used under cream moisturizer, and its fast drying factor helps apply cream moisturizer on top.
  • Skin felt nice and refreshing the next morning. I can tell a difference.
  • Overall, product has wonderful quality and provided excellent performance.

Boscia Night treatment
Wow! A surge of moisture.

Boscia Night treatment
A tiny dot is all you need.

Feel

  • At first, formula squeezed out in a surge of moisture.
  • It then dried with lightning speed, and gave skin a smooth surface.
  • Formula felt really nice.

Odor

  • If you take a close wiff, you will smell faint odor.
  • However, from a distance, there was no odor at all.

Packaging

  • Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of pump bottles. Too hard to get the last few drops.
  • However, I do like its sleek, slate-colored packaging.
  • Definitely looks high end.

  • Can be worn under cream moisturizer.
  • Felt nice on the skin.
  • Fast absorbing.
  • Little or no odor.

Overall Dislikes

  • Pump bottle was hard to use, but that's a personal preference.

Overall Rating (out of 10)

9.5/10

Recommend?

Yes.

Although I have only used this for one week, I really like it so far. Everyday, I woke up with smooth and moisturized skin. Otherwise, skin would feel ashy and dry. I especially recommend the Boscia Restorative Night Cream for someone in their 30's like me.

     Before

Dry.

After
If you are able to see it from the picture, hand felt and looked moisturized after use.

Thank you!

Hope you enjoyed the review.

Have you used Boscia products before?

Cobalt Shirt and Leopard Loafers - A Fashion Blog Post

Remember my new leopard loafers from Black Friday? Couldn't wait to put them on. So, in today's (very short) outfit post, I wore them with a simple black-and-cobalt combo.

Again, love the new loafers. They are super comfy.

The cobalt top came from Old Navy. We need something bright in Seattle.

By the way, check out the back of this blazer. Love lacy details.

Girlie Blog Fashion Post
Cutouts in lacy design looks super neat.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Any big plans this week?
