So did it live up to its claim? LOL! Do they ever? To sum it up, I'm not ditching my beloved false eyelashes! There is NOTHING (yet) that can replace them!
Here's what Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express Mascara claimed:
- Patented Spoon brush and Kera-fiber formula instantly build 8x more volume without clumping.
- Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of 300% more lashes.
- Ophthalmologist tested
- Contact lens safe
Here is my take on each of its claim:
- I loved using the Spoon Brush. It was very easy to use and separate the lashes with.
- The Kera-fiber formula did not cause too much clumping (just a little that's easily corrected). But 8X more volume? That's a far-fetched number! More like...2-3 times more.
- I did like the flexible wand. It was very easy to apply with.
- I don't wear contact lens, so I would not know how well the reaction to those are. But the formula did not irritate my eyes.
Most likely not. Sorry! The mascara worked so-so. I really liked the want, the brush and the formula. But the volume just did not live up to expectations.
Attractive price though!
On a scale of 5?
Possibly a 3 / 5
Did it live up to its "falsies" claim?
H*lls no! Like I said, NOTHING can replace my false lashes!
So there you go, Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express Mascara is pretty good for a drug store mascara. But there is NO WAY it can produce the glamorous and sexy effects of false eyelashes!
The spoon brush was nice to use
Lashes before falsies
Lashes after the falsies (right eye is more visible)
Yeah, I have yet to find a mascara that produces the same effect as wearing falsies. XD
ReplyDeleteAwesome review. That sucks that it does not do what it claims. I just started using Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash mascara. Amazing!! If you get a chance, check it out.
ReplyDeletei agree with you -- false lashes are the best....i wished i can wear them everyday and not look ridiculous. i have so few lashes that even a good mascara will make no difference --haha!!
ReplyDeleteHi Girlie Blog! I totally agree no mascara can replace falsies, and it actually takes me 10x longer to use mascara b/c I have to apply multiple coats and wait each time for the coat to dry.. using falsies takes like 15 seconds/eye, and they're noticeable without having to stand one inch from my face LOL.
ReplyDeleteLol, I saw that advertisement and was highly doubtful that a mascara could replace falsies. Thanks for verifying! NOTHING can replace falsies, especially not for short asian lashes like ours. Thanks to your review I won't be buying this mascara...
ReplyDeletethanks for the review, i've been very curious since i saw those jaw-dropping commercials, wondering if it could be true!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you did this review because I've been wanting to know! I kept forgetting to buy this to try it out. Now I'll save my $$$ :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the honest review....:)
ReplyDeleteStop by and say Hello ♥

Thanks for the review. I just purchased this mascar. Let's see what I think about it..haven't used it yet. I already it won't be as good as real falsies. Haha
ReplyDeleteI am SO happy you posted this review because I wanted to go out and buy this because I'm always in search for the perfect mascara! Thanks for saving me some $ :) I need to master false eyelashes! I'm always so worried I won't apply them on correctly and I'll end up with one on my cheek by the end of the night and not know it until someone points it out!! hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for reviewing this and posting it... I was about to go out and get a tube of this after seeing the ads everywhere. Have you tried layering on different types of mascara? I do that (and of course it still doesn't compare to falsies) but I find that it does give more length and volume than using just one!
ReplyDeletegreat post =)

I love this mascara! I don't know whether the yellow one is sold out side of the UK, but I have the yellow one and it is brilliant! It really elongates my lashes! Great review :)
ReplyDeleteYea I wouldn't think it would actually be able to make it look like false eyelashes, haha...that would be crazy and they would always sell out in 2 seconds ;)

Thank you so much for this review! I saw the advertisement and wanted to try it out but haven’t had time to do so. I don’t think I am going to after reading your review. I agree, nothing can replace false lashes
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fab review, darling!

Yeah, all the Maybelline mascaras I've tried are basically crap. I like Max Factor and Chanel... have a look at the ones I've tried - several posts. ps I refollowed because it wasn't showing up.

I don't think mascara ever do as they claim, especially when the claim is to make you appear that you have falsies on! Funny enough, I got this mascara in a goody bag a few weeks ago and not tried it. I will be now!
ReplyDeletehaha I never believe their claims :P
ReplyDeleteBut it did make your lashes more prominent :)
thank you!!! i was wondering about this one. please share with us your top mascara picks...so tired of wasting money on so so.

Aww that's really too bad this mascara didn't live up to its claim! I would say it doesn't do any more than a regular one
ReplyDeleteThanks for your review on Falsies. I will consider myself warned but I'm still going to go out and buy it. I need to try it for myself because everyone's lashes are different. I need to see if it will work for mine.
ReplyDelete*lol* Great review :-)
ReplyDeleteSo I tried the same mascara and had the same hopes. I think it was so-so, but definitely didn't provide any more volume than any other mascara I've tried. I don't think I'll buy it again. The Maybelline mascara that I have found to work the most is the one in the yellow tube--I can't remember what it's called, but look for it, it's good!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same!
ReplyDeleteI bought the same mascara with the same aspirations and was disappointed, I wish I could get on better with false lashes because I'd love to wear them more often! xxx
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of lashes, have you tried the Lilash? does it really work? I need some MAJAH help!!
ReplyDeletenice review. i am skeptical to try any more maybelline mascaras in the volume range since they all flake out on my skin! hopefully you didnt have that problem :)

I don't find many mascaras work as well as they say. I usually use two different mascaras when I do my make up !
ReplyDeleteI've found that the best mascara is Lancome - expensive but worth it.
