A TRICK TO TRADE: CLOSE, TONE AND MINIMIZE YOUR PORES

Everyone knows the essential steps to a facial: clean, exfoliate, steam, mask, tone and lather on the cream.

If you have an At-Home facial steamer, you know the bliss of reclining on the couch, feet on the coffee table and letting the hot steam pamper your face.

**SIGH!!!!** Life is good!!!!

We steam to open our pores so that when we mask all the dirty bits are taken out, leaving our skin fresh and clean. But after the pores are open, they must be closed in the end. To achieve this, you can wash your face with icy cold water.

Another good practice is to use a toner. Although not necessary, toners even skin tone and also minimize pores.

So here is the trick to trade: if you are strapped for time, store your toner in the fridge. When you need to close the pores with cold water, just use the cold toner. This way, you knock 2 birds with one stone: close and tone.

Pampering can sometimes be time consuming. That's what tricks are for, right? And on The Girlie Blog, we are all about trading these tiny, good tricks.

Happy Facials!!!!

FAKENESS

I always wondered why my aunt dropped 3 G's just for a Louis Vuitton clutch, when in her home town Shanghai, she could get a fake with the same design and label for much less. Then I brought home a fake Chloe bag, and I knew why.

It was in a bright color of cherry, with gold chained handles and double zippers. Most important, the "Chloe" logo flashed on the outside. The bag lit up any outfit and I loved it, until it broke. A small tear on the seams inside turned into an unsightly hole messing up everything it carried. I did keep it for a few more months, just because of the logo, but it was no longer a Chloe to me. It was just...a cheap bag.

Then I realized fake handbags are just like fake friends. They look good on the outside, but inside they are as bad as junk. They give you all the pleasure you need to your face, but talk trash when you are not around.

Perhaps in my aunt's old age, she just got sick of all the fakes she had and wised up to find something real, bag or people.

I will never spend money on a fake bag again, that's for sure! But people? They are hard to see from the inside. When you first meet someone, how can you tell if they are real or fake? I do know that the few friends I keep close are the ones I have invested the most on. They are like designer handbags, expensive but completely worth it! And they will stay with me forever!

SEEING DOUBLES

Seeing is believing! And I am a believer! A couple of months ago? Not so much! I was watching TV and saw a commercial for LOREAL's DOUBLE EXTEND MASCARA that claims to have a microfiber base coat to extend your lashes 60% longer than regular length.

Hmm...? I thought. What a scam?

Well, something prompted me to try it out. The base coat did have microfiber that coats a layer of attachments to your lashes, making them longer. Then there's the regular coat of mascara that add volume to each extended lash.

I was ecstatic when I saw my lashes go to new lengths, but even more excited when a co-worker noticed too. AH! The joy of validation!

Double the length, double the fun. Seeing doubles is F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S!!!!
